This State Election – Vote for Horses!
A State election will occur during March 2010 in South Australia. This is everybody’s opportunity to vote for horses! There are a range of issues which can combine to have an effect at the Polling Booth.
These issues are canvassed from our members and horse owners who visit the Horse SA website. Early issues are:
1. Recind the Recreational Services (Limitation of Liability) Act 2002 and replace with a workable system to protect providers of recreational services and users.
2. Commit to working with all stakeholders to build the State Horse Centre
3. Provide a funds injection into recreational trails
Local issues can also be raised with your local MP or candidate (candidates not yet announced)
Horse Ownership
Horses, by their very nature, support a range of ancillary small businesses including farriers and saddlers
On average, for every 6 racehorses or sport horses in work, a full time job is created
Horse owners are significant land owners & managers (via club/show grounds/racecourses) across Australia
Horses are owned across a broad geographical area of Australia
Horse owners cover the range of socio-economic groups
